Founded by Kopano Hosene, a young, passionate engineer from Mohlakeng, the Foundation emerged after Kopano witnessed classmates and young women in his community missing school or losing dignity due to lack of access to basic sanitary products. Recognising that hardship takes many forms, the Foundation has since grown its scope \u2014 organising clothing drives, supporting libraries, helping child-headed households and partnering with local schools and orphanages. Our vision Our vision is to build communities where dignity, opportunity, and hope are within reach for every person. We imagine a future where no girl misses school because of period poverty, where families in informal settlements have access to warmth and essential resources, and where children grow up surrounded by books, learning spaces, and supportive role models. We strive for neighbourhoods that stand together, supported by strong partnerships, active volunteers, and a culture of compassion. Through consistent action and community-driven programmes, we envision a South Africa where upliftment is shared, where helping others becomes a way of life, and where every individual has the chance to thrive. Our goals Our goal at Modimo O Teng Foundation is to uplift and support vulnerable communities through sustainable, compassionate action. We aim to fight period poverty by ensuring school girls have consistent access to sanitary pads, expand our clothing and winter-relief efforts to reach more families in need, and strengthen education by providing books, learning materials, and mini-libraries to young learners. We are committed to supporting child-headed households, partnering with local schools, churches, and organisations, and growing a strong volunteer network that helps us carry out our mission. As we expand into more communities, we continue working toward building long-term funding, increasing awareness, and creating impactful programmes that restore dignity, opportunity, and hope for everyone we serve.
